- Does the Helix 3D work on treadmills, over ground, or both?
The Helix 3D works for running and walking on a treadmill.
- How long does it take to set up and capture?
Set up the device and complete the capture in less than 10 minutes.
- Is the Helix 3D portable or fixed?
The Helix 3D system comes with a portable tripod to take the device on the go. We have wall mounts available for purchase to affix the camera bar on a wall behind a treadmill.
- What type of motion capture cameras are compatible with the Helix 3D software?
Our software is compatible with OptiTrack and Vicon motion capture cameras. If you currently own other products, please contact us for more information.
- What is the frame rate for the motion capture cameras?
While frame rate is dependent on activity, for running and walking the cameras must run at least 100 frames per second.
- Who can operate the system?
No PhD required! The Helix 3D is here to grow with you as you grow your knowledge. Some examples of our users are athletic trainers, physical therapists, personal trainers, strength & conditioning coaches, chiropractors, exercise physiologists, and biomechanists.
- What type of treadmill do you recommend?
The Helix 3D must be used on a flat treadmill. We recommend a treadmill with minimally obstructive handrails. The Helix 3D cannot be used with anti-gravity treadmills such as Alter-G or Boost as it obstructs the view of the markers. We do suggest the Wahoo KICKR Run treadmill.
- Can I use my own computer?
Yes, you can use your own computer, but it must meet specific requirements related to the processor, graphics card, memory, and hard drive.
- What operating system is needed to use the Helix 3D software?
The Helix 3D software runs on Microsoft Windows 10 or later
- What are the minimum computer requirements?
- The minimum computer requirements include:
- Processor: Intel Core i7-11800H
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphics Card: Mid-range NVIDIA (GeForce RTX preferred)
- Memory: 16 GB minimum (32 GB preferred)
- Hard Drive: 512 GB minimum (1 TB preferred)

- How long do I pay the software fee for?
You own your hardware and equipment once your starter bundle is paid for. The software is paid on an ongoing basis. If you cancel before you have made 36 months worth of payments for software, you will pay an early cancel fee of $99/mo for each month remaining on the initial 36 months. After 36 months, you will continue to pay the software fee, but will no longer be subject to an early cancel fee.
- What is the training process for Helix 3D?
RunDNA offers a customized onboarding process that combines online modules and site-specific live training.
- How do you charge for gait analysis services?
The technology has been implemented in a variety of fee structures including insurance reimbursement, hybrid models, and cash services.
- Does the software support integrations (i.e. EMG, Force Plates, etc.)?
